Service Description

Do you want to play in a band? This 5-week session will help you advance your playing skills while building musical camaraderie in a supportive and positive environment! We are pleased to announce a new opportunity for all ages to explore and perform the music they LOVE with coaching by professional musician and teaching artist Liz Draper. Sessions will be held at Electric Prairie Recordings, a recording studio in the heart of Mankato, perfect for fostering inspiration and creative growth. All instruments are welcome, though students must have some level of proficiency on their instrument already. Instructor Profile: Liz Draper, classically and jazz-trained versatile bassist, has performed, recorded and/or toured internationally with multiple Grammy Award-winning groups including Okee Dokee Brothers, Soul Asylum, Low, Pieta Brown, Iris DeMent, Charlie Parr, Orkestar Bez Ime, and Davina and the Vagabonds, to name a few. A professional musician since age 16, Liz has performed in an astonishing array of musical genres and ensembles, from jazz and classical to folk, metal, improvisational, experimental, Balkan, and chamber strings in diverse venues and festivals around the world such as Preservation Hall, Lincoln Center, Austin City Limits, Red Rocks, and closer to home including the Dakota, First Avenue and Orchestra Hall. Liz holds a Bachelor of Music in Double Bass Performance from the University of Minnesota and has studied at The School For Improvised Music in Brooklyn, New York. She was awarded a 2019 fellowship through Giant Steps Music Action Women, a partnership with the University of San Francisco. Liz is 2021 American Composers Forum awardee. Liz currently teaches at MacPhail Center for Music and The Music Lab in Minneapolis as well as out of her home studio in Mankato, MN. Cancellation Policy

A booking form must be completed for each participant, however, the waiver and release form can be completed once for all members of one household. An adult must complete the registration and waiver and release forms. Cancellation/ Rescheduling: All tuition must be paid in full at the time of registration. Participants may cancel or reschedule up to 48 hours before the beginning of the first session without penalty. After that point, all tuition is non-refundable except in extreme instances. Minnesota Makers and Artists Guild reserves the right to review requests for refunds in the event that a participant must cancel before the first session. Once the participant attends any session, no refunds will be made for cancellation or discontinuation in the program. Absence: Participants are responsible for attending all class sessions. Minnesota Makers & Artists Guild will not issue partial refunds in the event that participants must miss a class session, regardless of the reason for the absence. Late Arrival: Participants are responsible for arriving at the class location on time. Participants may wait in the lobby while the instructor prepares for the group. Arriving more than 10 minutes late will result in a shortened class session for the participant.
